The beauty of nature can have an amazing effect upon our senses, allowing us to experience incredible pathways from the outer world to the inner; uplifting our spirits and bringing us tremendous joy. Experiencing beauty with our hearts helps to lead us to our Higher Selves, ‘the wise being within, an accumulation of all our positive characteristics.’ Please try this simple visual exercise to uplift your spirits for a positive, balanced outlook on life. Choose one of the nature scenes below and imagine/visualize yourself as part of that scene for 1 minute. How do you feel after your positive nature experience? Remember to try this transformative exercise when you feel exhausted or irritated and see how quickly you can uplift yourself and deal with challenges in an optimistic, confident manner.
We can more easily access our Higher Selves when we take time to experience the transformative effect of nature’s beauty. Whether we are walking the dog on a golden autumn afternoon, sit in the shade of a tree to read a novel, or spend time cultivating our garden on a warm summer day, nature has the power to center and ground us and appreciate the present moment.
“The experience of beauty opens one’s heart and also changes relationships. People often think of beauty in a superficial way and fail to appreciate its impact on our lives. The sheer number of people who frequent art museums is always striking; although some may be drawn to one particular artist or are knowledgeable about art in an intellectual sense, it is essentially the beauty that draws them in; as beauty is the magnet.
A similar experience can occur through all forms of art: Listening to a concert; watching a ballet; enjoying a great piece of writing; or looking at a beautiful painting. All forms of artistic beauty can touch our hearts just as can nature. “Why are we so drawn to beautiful sunsets and sunrises? When nature paints glorious images on the canvas of the sky, are we not reborn in some way?”
